252: Disco Ball Full of Beetles (Listen)

Well this is the worst disco I’ve ever been to!

Have you ever been to an upmarket restaurant? I have, twice, to this very upscale very fancy Mexican place. Anyway that’s not related to the fact that I was going to ask, how much of a pain do you think it is to work there? You get all these rich people coming in, acting all entitled because they’re paying so damn much for the food. People like Danny and Clara. Who once again you have to wonder where they got the money for this dinner. It’s Listen, written by Steven Moffat and aired on September 13, 2014

Show-notes:

2:43 The Mark of the Rani is the first Rani story and Time and the Rani is the second. Classic Pip & Jane Baker stories.
4:00 Here are some of Jaden Smith’s best tweets.
6:09 Surprise, motherf***er.
19:22 Blow-Up
32:41 Politics and the English Language

229: If We Stop the Podcast, We Die (The God Complex)

At least we only have to do this for the rest of our lives.

Look. I run this podcast. I edit it. I maintain the website. Basically what I’m saying is that it’s my podcast. No one else’s. Am I doing this God Complex thing right? I actually don’t think I am now that I think about it. Close enough. I’ll have to look at Steven Moffat for more examples I guess. It’s The God Complex, written by Toby Whithouse and aired on September 17, 2011.

Show-notes:

1:27 Tension and release is a pretty big tenet of comedy in general and has a history of theory behind it. This article puts at least some if it in perspective.

2:15 Can’t believe there are already 13th Doctor books.
