125: Every Meme Has an Origin (Earthshock)

Maybe one day Trust Your Doctor will be a meme.

He finally kicked the bucket. He took a dive. Got offed. Put on ice. You feel me? Yes it’s Earthshock, written by Eric Saward and aired in March of 1982.

Show-notes:

6:30 Apparently “Morphsuits” is a brand, which I guess makes it a generic trademark?
8:49 They also continue the trend of their costumes getting more and more cool. Seriously, I forgot how terrible they looked in Tenth Planet.
9:40 Don’t mind this blatant lie.
10:57 Yup.
20:20 Yeah, it does seem really bad.
22:55 What?
40:29 You heard it here first. Doctor Who stories have no plot.

95: He Keeps His Fortress in His Mattress (The Horror of Fang Rock)

I keep my mattress in my fortress but that’s personal preference.

This week Kiyan and Dylan are now in 0 A.N.H. (After New Hope). In the coming weeks [it’s unlikely that] they’ll discuss the effects of Star Wars on Doctor who. The serial this week is the first of season 15, The Horror of Fang Rock, written by Terrance Dicks and aired in September of 1977.

85: Rainbow Tunnel of Death (Pyramids of Mars)

The colors! They burn!

This week Kiyan and Dylan make up a new term (biobabble), sort of explore a serial from Doctor Who, and indicate that Kiyan is half asleep. It’s been quite a week. The serial sort of covered this week is Pyramids of Mars, which was written by Stephen Harris (in reality Robert Holmes)  and aired in October and November of 1975.

84: When The Scarf Hits The Fan (Planet of Evil)

There were little scarf bits everywhere. It was a disaster to clean.

This week Kiyan and Dylan put forward their life’s work in harnessing the power of podcasting. They successfully harness pure podcast ether to create this episode about Planet of Evil, which was written by Louis Marks and aired in September and October of 1975. Watch out, pure podcast ether is toxic in large doses.

Here’s a comparison between greyscale and color images of the Addam’s Family Mansion.

79: Stationed Outside the Station (The Ark in Space)

The guards just hang out in space.

This week Kiyan and Dylan venture into what is supposedly one of the best classic who stories and then create what is supposedly our most recent episode. I’m not actually sure if it is, I mean, it will be until Episode 80 comes out. Anyway this week they watched The Ark in Space, which aired in January and February of 1975.

56: Cardboard Cutout of Hartnell (The Ambassadors of Death)

Plot twist: The First Doctor returns! (Just kidding!)

This week Kiyan and Dylan investigate The Ambassadors of Death, which featured hilariously overpowered villains. Also, they take a dive into the themes of Malcolm Hulke, including xenophobia and socialism! And they discuss the Doctor’s characterizations and the start of the reboot! The Ambassadors of Death was credited to David Whitaker, although it was actually mostly written by Trevor Ray for episode 1 and Malcolm Hulke for episodes 2-7.  It aired in March and May of 1970.

55: Divergent Species. Line. Thing. (Doctor Who and the Silurians)

Divergence is actually a pretty fun word to say.

This week Kiyan and Dylan encounter what is probably the darkest ending so far in Doctor Who and the Silurians. It was written by Malcolm Hulke (co-writer of The War Games) and it aired in January through March of 1970.

54: A Twisted Throwback to his Death (Spearhead from Space)

I personally assure you that I’m probably certain its not a throwback.

This week Kiyan and Dylan experience the genocidal tendencies of the Third Doctor in Spearhead from Space. It was written by Robert Holmes and it aired in January of 1970.

53: It’s the Time Lords, Messing With Our Brains! (The War Games 6-10)

If I could recognizably type out the rhythm to a sad song, I would.

[This is a Video Episode!] This week Kiyan and Dylan finish up The War Games, and then take a teary eyed look back at the Second Doctor, and his companions Jamie and Zoe. The War Games was written by Malcolm Hulke and Terrance Dicks and the second half aired in April and June of 1969.

Do you wanna build a Cyberman?

This week Kiyan and Dylan leap into season 5 and discuss The Tomb of the Cybermen, written by Kit Pedler and Gerry Davis. It aired in September of 1967.  Featuring a discussion of prospective Second Doctor character development.
