276: It’s Me Mickey Mouse! (Empress of Mars)

Since Disney owns nearly everything I can’t imagine this crossover is far behind.

Given how many times Mars has appeared on the show it should be pretty easy to assemble some sort of timeline of the Martian Empire right? Also, wasn’t that killer water that killed everything it ever touched in the polar ice caps? The one we learned about in Waters of Mars? Shouldn’t the gang be violently ill and trying to consume each other during almost the entirety of this episode? It’s Empress of Mars, written by Mark Gatiss and aired on June 10, 2017.

Show-notes:

4:22: Scratchman was “co-written” by James Goss. And by co-written I mean it was probably mostly written by him.
4:36: “With exclusive commentary ‘He Did It’ by the Goldman Family”
21:30: Pretty sure it was Zulu Dawn. And here’s a short description of the Great Emu War from Australian Geographic.
25:03: Here’s a pretty good (but poorly formatted) list of periods in British history.
33:28: John Cena’s theme

208: Go Go Gadget Time Lord (The Waters of Mars)

Engage gadget uh regeneration… technique…

Coming right up on the end of good old Mr. Tennant’s run here. And Russell T.’s run as well, but the more important thing is Mr. Tennant. He’s had a good run but you know, three seasons is about the max here in the reboot era. It’s The Waters of Mars, written by Russell T. Davies and Phil Ford and aired on November 15, 2009.

Show-notes:

3:48 Never saw this music video before. It’s literally just him standing in a blank white area.
3:54 The rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars.
4:59 Yuri Gagarin.
13:53 None of this is actually true, at least according to Steve Burns’ Wikipedia page.
21:28 I take it back, this is actually pretty funny.

85: Rainbow Tunnel of Death (Pyramids of Mars)

The colors! They burn!

This week Kiyan and Dylan make up a new term (biobabble), sort of explore a serial from Doctor Who, and indicate that Kiyan is half asleep. It’s been quite a week. The serial sort of covered this week is Pyramids of Mars, which was written by Stephen Harris (in reality Robert Holmes)  and aired in October and November of 1975.

50: The Return Of Sssssss (The Seeds of Death)

That way more exciting serial with a way less exciting podcast episode!

Welcome to 2015, TYD fans! This week Kiyan and Dylan take a journey into The Seeds of Death, not the be confused with the later 4th doctor serial, The Seeds of Doom. The Seeds of Death was written by Brian Hayles and aired in January and March of 1969.
