Aladdin, The Return of Jaffar, Aladdin and the King of Thieves

Aladdin made zero dollars because zero people saw it.

This month Kiyan and Dylan made the decision on what trilogy to watch solely based on how long it was. In hindsight, probably not the best idea. On the other hand, we almost ended up with Lord of the Rings one time, and that’s the complete opposite end of the spectrum. So we watched Aladdin, Aladdin II: The Return of Jafar, and Aladdin 3: King of Thieves. Surprisingly we didn’t watch 4l4ddin: Four Dudes Animate a Movie for $4.

Show-notes:

3:37 Making of Aladdin.
12:40 Apparently Disney decided to take Aladdin a different direction than its previous movies. Sadly I wouldn’t know.
13:52 Humiliate the Boy. Notice the younger Aladdin.
14:00 Also notice how it’s the last song Ashman ever wrote.
20:52 The Genie was one of the first animated movie characters to be voiced by a well-known celebrity.
21:11 Scott Weinger’s audition tapes featured his mom.
28:57 More about Return of Jafar and direct-to-dvd sequels.
38:07 God that ticking is annoying.
42:43 People really overplayed the supposed sexual content in these movies.
