This week on Inevitable Dylan is replaced by a copy.

Have I already made the replaced by a copy joke? I feel like I have because we’ve put out over 375 episodes of stuff and surely in one of those descriptions I’ve made that joke. Seriously how do I keep coming up with stuff to write? And how did I get to 375-something episodes before I got all meta talking about how many episodes it’s been? The Prisoner 4 – Free For All

I’m running for president of this podcast.

Look I’m not saying democracy is a sham. Paddy Fitz, whoever that is, is saying that, and we just happened to watch his magnum opus trying to prove the point. And along the way maybe we agree and maybe we don’t, I guess time will tell. Frankly any voting system entirely based around buttons the townspeople wear with absolutely no election security is bound to fail. It’s Free for All, written by “Paddy” “Fitz” and aired on October 20, 1987.

The Prisoner 3 – A. B. and C. ft. Keith

It’s as easy as Do Re Mi.

The first real episode of the Prisoner where we get into the nitty gritty and realize that not all is as it seems in the village. This will probably be Number 6’s life for the next 14 weeks so it’s best we treat him nicely for a while before we really beat him up. You know what I’m saying? On a side note, this podcast episode was a dream constructed to extract information from Keith. Did we get what we want? Listen and find out. It’s A. The Prisoner 2 – The Chimes of Big Ben

I’m pretty sure Kiyan has actually heard the chimes of Big Ben…

Is Big Ben the only famous clock tower in the world? This is a strange thought I just had, while sitting here, trying to come up with a description for this episode. Googling ‘famous clock towers’ gave me a lots of clock towers after “Big Ben” as the first result, and I recognize none of them. So I guess I just proved that Big Ben is the only famous clock tower. It’s The Chimes of Big Ben, written by Vincent Tilsley and aired on October 6, 1987.

The Prisoner 1 – Arrival

Who is number 1? We are number 1! *music cue*

Can you believe that we’ve made it to season 4? Speaking of which, like I said last week, Kiyan and I have been trapped in a personal podcasting hellscape. It just turns out that it’s a village populated by dozens of hundreds of more successful podcasts than ours. We don’t have names here, but I’ve been looking to see if I can find Sapphire and Steel anywhere in case they made it to this trap instead of the other one. It’s Arrival, written by George Markstein and David Tomblin and aired on September 29, 1987.

Sapphire and Steel 6 – Assignment 6

In terms of “where are they now?” retrospectives, at least the S&S one will be really easy.

Kiyan and I have been trapped in a recording studio for all eternity as of the end of this serial. You may be deceived into thinking that before today we had already been stuck in a recording studio all day, which wouldn’t be so far from the truth given the current pandemic. But now it’s official and can never be revoked, new content every week until we die. It’s Assignment 6, written by P.J. Hammond and aired between August 19th and 31st, 1982.

Sapphire and Steel 5 – Assignment 5

I forgot my name again too. I can’t remember if I was Kiyan or Dylan.

We’ve trapped ourselves in an old-timey estate house in order to experience this episode to its fullest. We’re actually not sure who else is locked in here with us, I didn’t check to see if the property was vacated before we decided to record in here. I can hear a weird stone statue mouthing off in the basement so that’s pretty weird. It’s Assignment 5, written by Don Houghton and Anthony Read and aired between August 11th and 26th, 1981.

Alternate title: Sapphire and Stalin

Kiyan and Dylan are like kind of really lame versions of the elementals. Which I bring up because that would explain why all of our guests are way cooler than us. Just like in this episode when we theorize that S&S are the outcasts who constantly fail, that would be us. And then the guests like Lead and Silver who are super suave and cool, that would be Keith and John. Damn. Sapphire and Steel 2 – Assignment 2

Look I’m not saying this could have been 2 serials but I’m not not saying that either.

Honestly I’m kind of glad we started with the 8 parter right off the bat. In general 8 parts back in classic Who days was the “max” we’d watch in one week. Anything above (like the 10 part The War Games or 12 part The Dalek’s Master Plan) we split over two weeks. Kind of almost wonder if we should have done that here, maybe we would have given it a more fair shake. It’s Assignment 2, written by PJ Hammond and aired between July 31st and November 8th, 1979.
